Laptops fail in a handful of predictable ways, and most of them are worth fixing rather than replacing. We repair laptops of every brand from our Clarkson workshop — screens, batteries, keyboards, charging ports, fans and storage — and we quote before we start, so you can decide whether the repair is worth it against the price of a new machine.
What We Fix
Cracked and Faulty Screens
A broken screen is the most common laptop repair we do, and usually one of the quickest. We replace panels on most makes and models. If the screen is black but the laptop is clearly running, the fault is sometimes the backlight or the cable rather than the panel itself — which is a cheaper fix, and worth checking before you pay for a whole screen.
Batteries That No Longer Hold Charge
Laptop batteries wear out after a few years; that is normal, not a defect. If yours only runs when plugged in, or dies at 40%, a replacement battery restores it. We will also check the charger and charging port, because a laptop that will not charge is not always a battery problem.
Keyboards, Trackpads and Ports
Sticking keys, dead keys, a trackpad that will not click, or a charging port that only works at a certain angle. Liquid spills fall in here too — if you have spilt something, stop using the laptop and call us straight away, because the damage continues while it is powered.
Slow Laptops
A laptop that has become painfully slow is very often fixable without replacing it. Swapping a mechanical hard drive for an SSD, adding memory, or clearing out a malware problem typically makes an older machine usable again for a fraction of the cost of a new one. We will tell you honestly if it is not worth it.
Repair or Replace? We Will Tell You Straight
Not every laptop is worth repairing, and we would rather say so than take your money. If the repair cost approaches what the machine is worth, we will tell you, and you are free to walk away — you only pay for work you have approved. Every repair we do carries a 90-day warranty on our workmanship and any parts we fit, which is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a laptop screen replacement cost?
It depends entirely on the model — panels for a common 15-inch laptop and a high-resolution ultrabook are very different parts. We will identify the exact panel your machine needs and quote you before ordering anything.
Will I lose my files if you repair my laptop?
Most repairs do not touch your data, but any repair carries some risk, and a failing drive carries a lot. Back up before we start if you possibly can. If you cannot, tell us — we can often image the drive first.
Do you repair laptops from any brand?
We work on all the common brands — HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, MSI and others — as well as Apple. Parts availability varies by model and age, and we will tell you upfront if a part is hard to source.
How long will the repair take?
Simple jobs are often same-day. Anything that needs a part ordered in usually takes a few days. We will give you a realistic timeframe when we quote, not after.
Do you charge if I decide not to go ahead?
Any diagnostic fee is advised to you at the time of quoting, and you can decline the repair. You take the laptop home in the condition it arrived.
